I’m looking for a good quality 50-ish litre canvas duffle bag. I have a budget of around $150 and have been looking at the LL bean heritage duffle. If anyone has any other suggestions I’m all ears.

Duluth Trading Co has a pretty tough-looking bag:

Frank and Oak makes great stuff. That’s usually where I get my stuff from. https://ca.frankandoak.com/bags

If you use this link, you’ll get $25 off, too. http://short.socl.co/14961186106560…

I still have a Land’s End duffle, and it’s pretty good. Also check out what Patagonia has - always like their jackets, so maybe ... oh, and Duluth Trading has sold me good pants and shirts. This: http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/product/…

In addition to all the suggestions here, make sure to check your local Goodwill. You might find some cool vintage one for next to nothing.

This is likely slightly over budget, but nothing beats Barbour : http://www.barbour.com/us/all-collect…

The L.L. Bean is also a great choice BTW.

REI makes some really nice bags. My brother still has the his duffel bags he toted around South Africa. Also, they’re reasonably priced at $35. http://www.rei.com/product/870768…

I’ve always used North Face base camp bags, they come in many sizes. I’ve had some since 1995, been in rough conditions in Australia, Tibet, Iraq and Afghanistan. They are not canvas.

I would look at Military surplus stores.

I don’t have quite those pants, but I would be interested to know why a NYC attorney should have them. The pants I have - outstanding pockets and great comfort.

J. Crew’s version is pretty good, has held up well in the 3+ years I’ve had it.

I have a few of these Helly Hansen shore duffels bags. They’re not exactly canvas, but rather a PVC/something else coated fabric, but it’s super tough, waterproof to anything but full submersion, and they come in 30l, 50l and 90l sizes. I happen to have one of each size, two of the 50’s infact, all of which are used to carrying heavy gear which gets chucked and dragged in and out of cars which have never even heard of interior carpets. They really do stand up to abuse well. They come in lots of pretty and garish colours too.
